About the Artist

Since 1995, Joseph Mattera has taken pride in operating a low-overhead, cost-efficient business with professional care, customized
service and top-quality products.

Utilizing his technical training, personal approach and genuine style, Joseph brings an artistic edge to architectural, editorial, event,
live-action, portrait, promotional and real estate photography with a depth rarely seen in today's markets.

From 1998 through 2004, Joseph maintained his photography gallery and studios in Philadelphia, showcasing his own work and that of
several regional photographers.

In 2003, he returned to the classroom - to teach Photographic Documentation in the Graduate School of Fine Arts at
University of Pennsylvania.

Following a 30-month hiatus in New York City, Joseph now finds home in Upper Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

He and his cameras have had the privilege of recording the following:

  • The Annual Access Achievement Awards presented by The Mayor's
    Commission on People with Disabilities in Philadelphia since 2001

  • The 100th Anniversary celebration of Kingsbury, Incorporated at The Ritz
    Carlton, Philadelphia

  • Many of the sacred rituals of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, including the
    annual Ordination to Priesthood at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and
    Paul in Philadelphia from 2001 through 2010

  • Research by University of Pennsylvania at Old St. Louis Cemetery, New

  • The final exhibit of the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt in Washington, D.C.

Joseph's event photography ranges from ceremonies, fund raisers and weddings to sports events, square dancing and

His portraits include athletes, brides, belly dancers, carpenters, children, the clergy, corporate executives, doctors, models,
musicians and writers.
